STONEVILLE — Gerald Terry Summerlin Sr., 75, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018.

The funeral service will be held at noon Thursday at First Baptist Church in Madison. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. at the church. Entombment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Wilson.

Mr. Summerlin was born Feb. 1, 1943 in Wilson County, to the late Wiley Andress Summerlin and Hattie Mae Barfield Summerlin. Gerald was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madison and was also an active member of the Madison-Mayodan Rotary. Gerald loved to golf and restore old tractors. He was known to be a skilled handyman and had a genuine sense of humor.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carol Morris Summerlin; sons, Gerald Terry Summerlin Jr., and wife, Michelle, of Summerfield and Michael Wade Summerlin, and wife, Mindy, of Charleston, West Virginia; grandchildren, Tripp, Kimmee, Dylan, Breanna and Levi Summerlin; and sisters, Karol Utter of Newport News, Virginia and Kathy Rose Anthony of Kenly.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Penn Nursing Center for their wonderful care and support.
