Postseason girls and boys basketball tournaments start Monday for 2-A Eastern Plains Conference and 3-A Big East Conference but no games in either league tourney likely will be contested in Wilson.

The EPC will play first-round games at North Pitt for girls and at SouthWest Edgecombe for boys Monday before moving to Farmville Central and Nash Central for Wednesday’s semifinals. The championship games are set to be played at the highest remaining boys seed Friday. The only chance for a game to be played in Wilson would be if the No. 4 Beddingfield and No. 6 North Johnston met in the boys championship game.

The Big East tournament will be played in Rocky Mount with Rocky Mount High and the new Rocky Mount Event Center splitting the first two rounds Monday and Wednesday. The Event Center, located at 285 NE Main Street in downtown Rocky Mount, will be the site of the girls and boys championship games Friday, starting at 6 p.m.

The Beddingfield boys face No. 5 North Pitt in the opening round Monday at SW Edgecombe at 6 p.m. The host Cougars, seeded third, take on No. 6 North Johnston at 7:30 p.m.

The girls quarterfinals at North Pitt pit No. 4 North Johnston against No. 5 Beddingfield at 6 p.m.

The semifinals have No. 2 SouthWest Edgecombe taking on the North Pitt-Nash Central first-round winner at Nash Central at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Nash Central is the host because its boys team is the No. 2 seed and will face the SWE-North Johnston winner at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Farmville Central, the boys and girls conference champion, will host Wednesday’s other semifinals with the Lady Jaguars facing the North Johnston-Beddingfield winner at 6 p.m. and the Jaguars taking on the Beddingfield-North Pitt victor at 7:30 p.m.

In action Monday in the Big East quarterfinals are the No. 3 Fike boys against No. 6 Franklinton at the Event Center at 7:30 p.m. while No. 4 Hunt will be the “home team” against No. 5 Rocky Mount on the Gryphons’ home floor, also at 7:30 p.m.

The No. 4 Fike girls will take on No. 5 Northern Nash in the first game at Rocky Mount High on Monday, starting at 6 p.m. while, at the Event Center, No. 6 Southern Nash faces No. 3 Franklinton.

Big East champion Hunt will play the Fike-Northern Nash winner Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Event Center while the Hunt-Rocky Mount winner faces top-seeded Northern Nash in the boys semifinals game at 7:30 p.m.

At Rocky Mount High, the No. 2 Lady Gryphons meet the Southern Nash-Franklinton winner at 6 p.m. and second-seeded Southern Nash gets the Fike-Franklinton boys winner at 7:30 p.m.

In the 3-A/4-A Eastern Carolina Conference tournament, starting Tuesday, C.B. Aycock is the No. 3 boys seed and will host No. 2 New Bern in the first round at 6 p.m. The Lady Falcons, seeded seventh, visit No. 2 Eastern Wayne, also at 6 p.m.
