I applaud The Wilson Times once again in its reporting! The article entitled “New start for a new year,” (front page, Saturday) describing a homeless person and family seeking help from the Hope Station’s Westview House, was excellent in reporting Shalon McMullen’s story. She is such a lovely and grateful young lady bringing awareness to Hope Station to those in need.
For those who have contributed to Hope Station for any reason, the capital campaign for the Westview House or fundraisers for operational expenses, now you know where your money goes. As a board member and fundraising chair, on behalf of our entire Hope Station team, thank you!
It has always been my dream to help in providing shelter for the homeless. After many years in volunteering my efforts, I have been blessed in finally getting my dream answered through Hope Station! In our fall letter to those who have contributed, I quoted: “Money is not offered; one must ask for it. Money does not come in; someone must go after it.”
With that inspiration and the story of Shalon, please help us to carry out God’s call to help our neighbors in need.
The writer is a member of Hope Station’s board of directors and its fundraising chairman.
