Hunt High athletic director Jon Smith announces the start of fall sports tryouts will be Thursday, Aug. 1, which is the first permissible mandatory attendance day under North Carolina High School Athletic Association rules.
Tryouts will get underway in football and boys soccer on Aug. 1, with football meeting from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Warrior Stadium.
The second day of tryouts will be Friday, Aug. 2 at the same times.
Boys soccer will have a 90-minute session on Aug. 1 beginning at 5:15 p.m. On Aug. 2, a one-hour tryout will be held beginning at 5 p.m. on the Hunt pitch.
Volleyball will hold its tryouts on Aug. 1 and Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. inside the Hunt gym.
Three other sports — girls tennis, cross-country and girls golf — will have later starting times.
Girls tennis will gather on Monday, Aug, 5 from 9-11 a.m. at the school’s courts.
Willow Springs Country Club will be the site of girls golf tryouts, to be held Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 3 p.m.
Cross-country tryouts are scheduled for Monday, Aug. 5 from 3-5 p.m. Prospective runners are asked to meet at the top of the large parking lot located behind the school and bring a water bottle.
All applicable paperwork required by the NCHSAA, including current physicals and concussion forms, must be completed before an athlete is allowed to participate.
