RALEIGH — Ayden Cox turned in a spotless 3-0 record, and the Hunt High wrestling team kicked off its 2019 season Tuesday night by winning two of three matches at a quadrangular match hosted by Raleigh Millbrook.

Hunt of the 3-A Big East Conference defeated both 3-A foes in attendance, dispatching Lee County 36-30 and getting a 48-30 conquest of Greenville Rose in the two neutral-site matches. Against host and 4-A Millbrook, the Warriors took a 69-12 setback, getting pins by Cox at 106 pounds and a quick pin from Tryson Myers at 285 in the opening seconds of the contest.

Cox also turned in victories over Lee County’s Luke Barrow and recorded a forfeit win over Rose.

Emerging with 2-1 ledgers were Nick Arias at 152, Aundrey Loftin at 182, Chris Silva at 195 and Myers at 285.

Arias won by pin against Lee County and notched a forfeit victory over Rose. Loftin was the receipient of two forfeits and was pinned in the second period by Millbrook’s Isaiah McCullers in his first match at the high school level.

Silva had a forfeit win versus Lee County and pinned Rose’s Eli Foreman in the first period. Myers, aside from his quick pin of Millbrook’s Nick Silvulka, stopped Lee County’s Carter Spiller in the first period via pin.

Among the Hunt wrestlers with one win, Lorenzo Arizpe’s was of the on-mat variety, as he pinned Lee County’s Josh Combs in the second period at 113.

Hunt will take part in an individual tournament Saturday, as the Warriors visit Big East member Franklinton for the Franklinton Season Kickoff.
