Freshman Jarrett Aycock entered in relief and tossed 5 1/3 strong innings to lead the Hunt High baseball team to a 5-4 victory over Northern Nash to open 3-A Big East Conference play at Sid Boyette Field.
Taking over for sophomore Blake Daniels after 1/3 of an inning, Aycock entered and struck out eight, while walking two. His only run allowed was unearned.
Four Hunt players had one hit each, with junior Caleb Davis going 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Sophomore Blake Daniels, junior Aiden Minter and Aycock each singled.
Hunt, unbeaten through six games, visits Northern Nash on Friday.
14-run 3rd sends Wilson Christian past Greenfield
A 14-run explosion in the bottom of the third inning boosted the Wilson Christian Academy baseball team to an 18-3 victory against visiting Greenfield on March 16.
Calvin Peacock batted 2 for 2 with a double and drove in three runs for the Chargers. Hunter Lewis also turned in a 2-for-2 performance with an RBI, and Seth Quinn went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Walks from Greenfield pitchers were prominent.
Quinn posted the pitching win as WCA upped its record to 2-1.
