PIKEVILLE — Despite a yeoman performance from Taveian Jackson, a 6-foot-1, 235-pound junior, the host Charles B. Aycock High varsity football team was dealt a 41-18 3-A/4-A Eastern Carolina Conference loss by D.H. Conley on Friday night.

Jackson slammed for 214 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 36 rushes, but the 3-A Golden Falcons fell to 0-2 in the ECC and to 2-4 in all games.

CBA rallied to chop a 21-0 deficit to  21-12 and drew as close as 27-18 late in the third quarter.

Junior Alijuan Moore accounted for the Falcons’ first TD on a 58-yard interception return. Jackson then darted 28 yards for the second CBA TD and added the final one on a 1-yard plunge.

The 3-A Vikings, 2-0 in the ECC and 5-1 overall, then sealed the contest with TD jaunts of 41 yards from Cole Barrow and 23 yards from Nyck Brown.

Conley got three TDs from Antwain Ruffin on a 7-yard pass reception and runs of 24 and 39 yards.

The Vikings wound up with a 357-243 margin in total offensive yardage.

The Falcons stay home next Friday to oppose county rival Eastern Wayne in another conference test.
