Dorothy “Jean” Miller Thompson, 80, of Wilson, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, surrounded by her loving family. Her memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 5142 N.C. 58 N, Wilson. The Rev. Steve Stephenson will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Westview Cemetery, Atlanta.
The family will receive friends Friday evening following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of Terri and Bucky.
Jean worked as a secretary with N.C. Department of Transportation in Wilson for more than 30 years. After retiring she enjoyed spending time with all of her family.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Terri Robbins, and husband, Bucky, of Elm City, Beth Parker, and husband, Mitch, of Swansboro and Lisa Harris of Wilson; grandchildren, Leslie Nowell, and husband, PJ, Jamie Parker, Justin Harris, Mary Beth Harris, Breanna Parker, Miller Robbins, and, wife, Lauren and Tori Parker; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Harry Miller of East Point, Georgia; her brother-in-law, Gene Sutherland of Jonesboro, Georgia; and her many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Thompson; her parents, Norris and Sarah Miller; and her twin sister, Joan Sutherland.
