HARTWELL, Ga. — Despite shooting seven strokes higher than it did in Sunday’s opening round of the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women’s golf championship, Barton College broke a tie for fourth place with Erskine College with a team score of 327 Monday at Cateechee Golf Club. That left the Lady Bulldogs with a two-round score of 320-327—647 and in fourth place alone, a stroke ahead of the Flying Fleet (319-329—648.
Barton was led Monday by Nikki Norlin with a 79, to give her a total score of 82-79—161, putting her in a tie for 14th with four others, including teammate Sydney Turner (78-83—161). Lady Bulldogs’ Shalie Williams (79-83—162) is a shot back and tied for 19th with two others.
Limestone College maintained its grip on first place with a 305 for a total of 604, 29 shots ahead of second-place University of Mount Olive (323-310—633). Belmont Abbey is third at 320-323—643.
Tyler Dawson of Converse College (72-77—149) has the individual lead by one stroke over Limestone’s Pilar Martinez (72-78—150).
The final round is Tuesday.
