Lady Bulldogs blank Methodist 4-0
FAYETTEVILLE — Senior Laisy Scardazzi scored late in the first half and added a 71st-minute tally as part of a three-goal second half as Barton won its second match in as many tries in 2018 with a 4-0 win over NCAA Division III member Methodist University on Monday night.
Scardazzi had the lone goal of the first half in the 43rd as she buried a shot off the right side. The Lady Bulldogs doubled their margin in the 64th, capitalizing on a finish from sophomore Syaani Harris that beat substitute goalkeeper Maggie Hunt in the left corner.
Scardazzi put away the only assisted tally in the 71st, taking a pass from freshman Brenna Keegan and tapping it into the bottom left corner. Jordyn Brown, a senior, finished the scoring in the 74th with her unassisted goal.
Junior Megan Bolick and freshman Kristin Davis combined for the shutout in goal for Barton, combining for three saves. The Lady Bulldogs asserted a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
Barton opens play in the Catawba Classic on Friday, facing off with the host Indians at 7 p.m.
