Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a man injured Sunday.

Wilson police responded to an 11:53 p.m. call to the 600 block of East Green Street regarding a person who had been shot. When police arrived at the scene, they found 24-year-old Dontae X. Smith of Wilson suffering from a gunshot wound to one of his legs, said Sgt. Steve Stroud.

Smith was taken to Wilson Medical Center for treatment.

Smith told police that an unknown black man in his 20s confronted him and then shot him, according to Stroud. The suspect then fled the scene, police said.

No arrests have been made in the case. Police ask anyone with information to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
