Wilson Medical Center and the Wilson County Health Department are partnering again this year to offer a Maternity & Breastfeeding Fair to the community. This free event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wilson County Agricultural Center located at 1806 Goldsboro St.

If you’re a new mom or mom-to-be, we welcome you to participate in this event, which will feature an assortment of activities. Local shops and vendors are invited to either share information or offer their services and products for sale.

Wilson Fire/Rescue Services will perform car seat checks and the Youth of Wilson will provide games for your little ones to enjoy. Kids ID will be there to make identification cards for children (parents must be present).

Other confirmed vendors include The Shadie Spot, Initials, Inc., Cole Coles Cupcakes and Confections, Thirty-One, Scentsy, LuLaRoe and more. We are also giving away some great door prizes, including a breast pump!

Wilson Medical Center’s Women’s & Children’s Services staff will provide information about breastfeeding, our parent education classes and other resources. Representatives from the Women, Infants and Children program at the Wilson County Health Department will also be there to provide information about their services.

At Wilson Medical Center, we offer a number of services for expectant mothers to provide support to moms who want to breastfeed their babies. These services include monthly breastfeeding classes for mother and support person, which are held on the third Thursday of the month from 6-8 p.m. in the Wilson Medical Center auditorium. We also have a lactation support line (252-399-8887) and an email address where you can ask questions (lactation@wilmed.org).

We also offer a childbirth education class every other month on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. These classes will prepare you and your loved ones with facts about labor and delivery including information and techniques to handle the labor process.

Class schedules and registration information for both the breastfeeding and the childbirth class can be found at wilsonmedical.com.

If you would like more information or are interested in being a vendor at the Maternity & Breastfeeding Fair, please call 252-399-8887.

Jennifer Roberts, registered nurse, is the lactation specialist at Wilson Medical Center.
