Playing out of the second of five flights, the team of Chris McKeel-Dustin Jones captured the overall championship in the recent second Member Invitational at Wilson Country Club.
McKeel-Jones fired a 10-under-par 62 in 18 holes of better-ball competition and then sizzled with a 14-under 58 via a Texas scramble format to prevail with a 24-under-par total of 120.
Earlier, McKeel-Jones also triumphed in the nine-hole par-3 tournament with a 7-under round.
Club pro Josh Price and general manager Reid Hill established a nine-hole layout that featured “funky” tee boxes and pin placements.
Flights were established on the basis of the combined handicap of the two team members. Golfers with the lowest combined handicaps formed the First Flight.
Kent Williams-Matt Figg prevailed in the First Flight, with John Hearn Walston-Hearn Walston finishing second. Coalter Paxton III-Coalter Paxton IV salvaged third.
Trailing McKeel-Jones in the Second Flight were Chris Church-Cameron Suddreth in second and Royce Poythress-Bill Boles Jr. in third.
Atop the Third Flight was the tandem of Charlie Bedgood III-Harry Helmer, with Connor Bedgood-Ryan Elvin emerging the runner-up. Taking third was the duo of Dan Whaley-Larry Daughtry.
Cliff Watson-Gordon Mattox ruled the Fourth Flight. Justin Murray-Carter Ellis finished second, with Bobby Johnson-Hunter Denmark in third.
Top Fifth Flight honors was claimed by the pair of Thomas Webb-Sidney Ellis. Jerry Woodard-Richard Wells placed second, with Hank Butts-Chris Wooten placing third.
The weekend competition attracted 49 twosomes.
