MIDDLE SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Balanced attack helps keep Elm City unbeaten

Seven different players scored for Elm City in the Lady Vikings’ 9-0 girls soccer win Monday at Darden, pushing their record to 3-0.

Hayley Selfe and Karys Wheeler each stuck in a pair of goals while Caroline Adkins, Kathryn Adkins, Madisyn Cooke, Kate Conoley and Avery Lentz scored one each.

Kimberly Ramirez provided two assists while Mallory Jenkins, Caroline Adkins, Conoley and Lentz were credited with one helper each.

The Lady Vikings, who went unbeaten in winning the Tricounties Athletic Conference championship last spring, will host Springfield on Tuesday in a rematch of the championship game.

Springfield 4-0 after blanking Toisnot

Gretchen Weeks scored in the 23rd minute to give Springfield a 9-0 girls soccer victory over visiting Toisnot on Monday. 

Madyson Brown scored three goals and Mariah Polk added two for the Lady Wildcats (4-0), who have won all their matches via the mercy rule.

Also scoring for Springfield were Susan Guzman, Eva Fatzaun and Kamryn Graybeal. Guzman and Weeks delivered two assists each while Brown had one.

The Lady Wildcats will revisit Elm City on Tuesday in a makeup game from last week. 

Ziegler’s 2 goals pace Lady Tigers’ win

Grace Ziegler scored a pair of goals as the host Wilson Prep girls soccer team blanked Christ Covenant 4-0 on Friday.

Morgan Epps and Macaylee Wiggs each netted a goal for the Lady Tigers, who blasted 26 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Makayla Best made five saves to preserve the shutout.

Lady Vikings thump Darden

Host Elm City blasted Darden 19-4 in three innings in softball action Mo nday.

Mikayla Blower cracked a home run for the Lady Vikings, while Emily Alvarez, Jya Wilkerson, and Haley Chavis contributed at the plate.

Elm City will host Toisnot on Thursday.
