Led by the 15 points of Jewel Brewington, three players finished in double figures for the Elm City girls basketball team Thursday afternoon in a 43-25 win over host Speight.
Mallory Jenkins and Connie Pleasants each had 11 for the Lady Vikings, now unbeaten through three games.
T’Johnna Harris led Speight (0-3) with 11 points. Kamyla Hill had eight.
Elm City visits Springfield on Monday, while Speight is home to Toisnot.
Speight routs Elm City 41-12
The Speight boys basketball team climbed to an unblemished 3-0 with a resounding 41-12 triumph over Elm City on Thursday.
Trevor Best led Speight, bucketing 20 points in the win.
Josiah Artis led Elm City (1-2) with three points.
The Vikings are at Springfield on Monday. Speight plays host to Toisnot.
Springfield clips West Edgecombe
Dakota Wilkins chipped in 10 points and Victoria Coleman added seven points in leading the Springfield girls basketball team to a 25-22 conquest of West Edgecombe in Thursday action.
Springfield (2-1) is home to Elm City on Monday.
Pittman’s 20 paces West Edgecombe
In a battle of Wildcat mascots, it was the 20 points of Drew Pittman that propelled the Springfield boys basketball team to a 57-32 win over visiting West Edgecombe on Thursday.
Alex Speight added nine for the victorious Wildcats (2-1), who face Elm City on Monday.
Bucks hold off South Edgecombe 32-25
The Forest Hills boys basketball team improved its record to 2-1 with a 32-25 victory over South Edgecombe on Thursday afternoon.
Blessed Carmon led the way for the Bucks with 13 points. Rodney Lovely added 11 as Forest Hills utilized a strong defensive effort to pull away in the second half.
Lady Bucks defeat Dragons 37-19
Jamaria Freeman led the way with 21 points Thursday in pacing the Forest Hills girls basketball team to a 37-19 victory over South Edgecombe.
Aiyana Harrison added eight points for Forest Hills, which plays host to Darden on Monday.
Toisnot rallies past Darden 22-17
Overcoming a scoreless opening quarter, the Toisnot girls basketball team surged from a six-point halftime deficit to secure a 22-17 win over Darden on Thursday.
Jalia Daniels paced Toisnot with 12 points, while Ainsley Cato had six.
Hawks enjoy 2-0 week
Buoyed by a pair of victorious showings on the road, the Toisnot boys basketball team remained unbeaten through three games with an overtime conquest of Darden on Thursday and a Monday win over Forest Hills.
The Hawks erased a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat Darden 32-29 in OT and three days earlier, posted a 43-35 triumph over Forest Hills.
Versus Darden, Jordan Simpkins and Christian Richardson led the way with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Against Forest Hills, Nikolas Edwards tallied 16 points.
Jordan Simpkins finished with eight points and eight rebounds.
Toisnot is home to Speight on Monday.
