ROCKY MOUNT — Unbeaten Wilson Prep built a 20-point lead at halftime on the way to a 68-31 boys basketball win at Faith Christian on Friday evening.

The Tigers, now 6-0, were led by David Ellis with 11 points while Versheed Watson tossed in eight points. Isaiah Buck and Dillon Skinner each contributed seven points.

Wilson Prep will play host to Hobgood Academy on Monday.

Cycs fall on late 3

WINTERVILLE — A three-pointer at the buzzer sent the Community Christian boys basketball team to a 41-38 loss Friday at Christ Covenant.

The Cyclones (1-4) led for much of the game and were ahead when big man Jake Farmer fouled out, giving the Spartans a chance to rally late.

Cale Pittman’s 20 points led CCS while Farmer added 12 points.

The Cyclones will host New Life Christian on Tuesday in the gym at Peace Church.

WCA overwhelmed by New Life 46-4

RALEIGH — The Wilson Christian girls basketball team was held scoreless in the first and third quarters Friday afternoon in a 46-4 loss to New Life Storm.

Megan Clark and Skyler Davis had two points each for the Lady Chargers (3-7), who visit Kinston Bethel Christian on Jan. 10, 2020.

Toisnot rallies past Darden 22-17

Overcoming a scoreless opening quarter, the Toisnot girls basketball team surged from a six-point halftime deficit to secure a 22-17 win over Darden on Thursday.

Jalia Daniels paced Toisnot with 12 points, while Ainsley Cato had six.

Hawks enjoy 2-0 week

Buoyed by a pair of victorious showings on the road, the Toisnot boys basketball team remained unbeaten through three games with an overtime conquest of Darden on Thursday and a Monday win over Forest Hills.

The Hawks erased a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat Darden 32-29 in OT and three days earlier, posted a 43-35 triumph over Forest Hills.

Versus Darden, Jordan Simpkins and Christian Richardson led the way with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Against Forest Hills,  Nikolas Edwards tallied 16 points.

Jordan Simpkins finished with eight points and eight rebounds.

Toisnot is home to Speight on Monday.
