Ceonte Jones scored on a quarterback keeper Thursday afternoon to lift the Toisnot football team to a hard-fought 6-0 win over Darden in overtime.

After the Hawks’ defense denied Darden on its overtime possession, Jones directed Toisnot to the game’s only TD.

JahNille Jones led the Hawks with 95 yards rushing, while Jones tacked on 45 yards. El Avent scampered for 40 yards.

Defensively, Caleb Hinnant logged 10 tackles for the Hawks.

Jones had eight tackles and Avent added nine. Detavious Jones intercepted a Darden pass.

Toisnot is at Speight next Thursday.

Atkinson’s 3 TDs bolsters Cougars

Cris Atkinson scored in a variety of ways for his Speight football team Thursday afternoon, and the defense did the rest in a 20-0 shutout of Elm City.

Atkinson made his imprint on special teams, scoring on a 35-yard punt return.

He later added a 40-yard rushing touchdown and tossed a 20-yard score to Jelani Taylor as Speight moved to 3-0.

The Cougars will host a battle of unbeaten teams next week when they host Toisnot.
