MIDDLE SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Trio keys Vikings to 49-33 win over South Edgecombe

With three players scoring in double figures, the Elm City boys basketball team boosted its record to 2-0 Wednesday with a 49-33 victory against visiting South Edgecombe.

The Vikings were sparked by J.D. Graziani with 16 points, Drew Pittman with 15 and David Telfer with 10.

Top South Edgecombe scorers were Powell with 11 points and Davis with nine.

Both teams are in action Thursday, with Elm City visiting Speight and South Edgecombe welcoming Springfield.

Springfield gets past Speight, 38-33

The host Springfield boys basketball team evened its record at 1-1 with a 38-33 conquest of Speight on Wednesday.

Leading the Wildcats were Dien Sutton with 14 points and C.J. Bradford with 10.

Top scorers for Speight were Micah Sherrod with nine points and Kris Atkinson and Ty Lucas with eight each.

Springfield travels to South Edgecombe on Thursday.

 

South Edgecombe clips Elm City

Jer’lisa Pridgen poured in all of her team’s points as visiting South Edgecombe defeated Elm City 21-16 in girls basketball Wednesday.

Connie Pleasants led Elm City with 11 points.

South Edgecombe stands undefeated in two outings, while the Lady Vikings are winless in two outings so far this season.
