Wilson Mayor Bruce Rose is inviting the community to join him for National Day of Prayer in Wilson this Thursday, beginning at 12:15 p.m. in front of the Wilson County Courthouse.
The 20-25 minute event will include patriotic and religious music by Beddingfield High School’s chorus and band; a presentation by Wilson Fire & Rescue’s color guard; and prayer on behalf of the community, state and nation.
Jose Pabon, plant manager of Smithfield Foods’ Wilson facility, will be the main speaker. Scott Sauls, administrative pastor of Farmington Heights Church of God, will lead the main prayer.
National Day of Prayer was established by Congress in 1952 and has been held since 1988 on the first Thursday in May. All 50 states have organized events. Mayor Rose has organized an observation in Wilson for more than 20 years. For more information, go to NationalDayofPrayer.org.
