Nash Central High School will have a new principal effective Dec. 1.
Victor Ward will be taking the helm there from the school’s current principal, Gail Powers.
Ward has been serving as Nash-Rocky Mount School’s director of Family Engagement, At-Risk Services and Student Assignment.
Powers will be moving to Central Office and taking over Ward’s duties there.
District officials announced the change late last week. Earlier last week, Nash Central was the focus of potential gang violence. Threats were made on social media regarding the school.
District officials notified law enforcement and the threats were found “to not be credible,” according to a press release issued by Travis Twiford, interim superintendent of Nash-Rocky Mount Schools.
No incident occurred at the school. But there was an increased law enforcement presence at the school.
