Wilson city officials say a person died early Saturday in a fire that destroyed one mobile home and damaged four others.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 301 Harper St. NE home at 4:18 a.m. and arrived to find the single-wide mobile home ablaze. Wilson Fire/Rescue Services crews found a person's body while spraying out the flames, city spokeswoman Rebecca Agner said in a news release.

Wilson police and medical examiners are working to identify the victim and determine the cause of death, Agner said. There were no initial indications of foul play.

"Wilson Fire/Rescue Services and (the) Wilson Police Department are working collectively to complete the fire investigation and determine the cause and origin of the fire," Agner said in the release. "While no foul play is suspected, this fire is still considered under investigation."

The fire caused property damage to four adjacent mobile homes on Harper Street, which is off Herring Avenue. No injuries were reported Saturday.

Medics from Wilson County EMS responded to the fire along with Wilson firefighters and police.
