Operation Spring Clean targets Wilson drug suspects

Nearly two dozen suspects face charges following a two-day operation conducted by the Wilson Police Department’s Special Operations Division.

Operation Spring Clean was a part of a several months-long drug investigations within the city of Wilson, according to Capt. Jeff Boykin.

“I’m extremely pleased with the energetic and enthusiastic response to Operation Spring Clean by Wilson Police Department personnel and our partners,” said Wilson Police Chief Thomas Hopkins. “The continuity of teamwork with our local, state and federal partners has proved successful. The support and involvement of our citizens has contributed tremendously to this operation. We are committed to continue working together with our citizens to ensure the safety of our communities.”

FOUR HOMES RAIDED

On Wednesday, police executed drug-related search warrants at locations including 1806 6-C London Church Road, 506 Macon St., 1901 D-1 Lenoir Drive and 1706-A Snowden Drive, officials said. Boykin said each search revealed illegal narcotics.

The WPD’s Special Operations Division received assistance from the police department’s Special Response Team, the Tar River Regional Drug Task Force and the Rocky Mount Police Department. As a result of the searches, the following suspects were arrested:

• Dexter Graham, 1801 6-C London Church Road, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of cocaine, $30,000 secured bond

• Destiny Tucker, 1801 6-C London Church Road, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and felony possession of cocaine, $5,000 secured bond

• Thomas Mann, 506 Macon St., possession of cocaine, $5,000 secured bond

• Douglas Battle, 1901 D-1 Lenoir Drive, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, $7,500 secured bond

• Brad M. Barnes, 1706-A Snowden Drive, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, $2,500 secured bond

DRUG SUSPECT ROUNDUP

Police conducted the operation’s second phase on Thursday. Wilson Police Department’s Special Operations Division, the Patrol Division and Tar River task force members set out to find individuals who were part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, Boykin said.

He said 15 narcotic offenders were identified as well as 15 documented gang members with warrants.

As a result, the following suspects were arrested and charged:

• Rodney D. Barnes, selling heroin and possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, $25,000 secured bond

• Antanio Applewhite, selling and delivering a Schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, $10,000 secured bond

• Naquan Dawson, possession of marijuana, written promise to appear

• Jalen Cooper, possession of marijuana, written promise to appear

• Quavius Edmundson, selling heroin, selling and delivering a Schedule I controlled substance and selling a Schedule II controlled substance, $30,000 secured bond

• Sh-Kill Turner, weapon possession by felon violation (federal indictment)

• Terrell Hinnant, weapon possession by felon violation (federal indictment)

• Derrick Taylor, resisting public officers and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, $2,000 secured bond

• Theo Richardson, resisting public officers, careless and reckless driving, driving with no insurance, $2,500 secured bond

• Tony Cotton, possession of drug paraphernalia, bond unavailable

• Darrick Moody, failure to appear on felony, $10,000 secured bond

• Dennis Taylor, felony possession of methamphetamine, $7,500 secured bond

• Matthew Jones, possession of marijuana, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, speeding, $4,000 secured bond

• Horace Williams, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, $1,500 bond

• Brittany Minshew, felony possession of methamphetamine, $7,500 secured bond

• Dyquan Hill, possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, $1,500 bond

• Tre Watson, order for arrest, $3,500 secured bond

• Martez Barnes, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, $2,000 secured bond

• Kenneth Lee May, selling heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, $10,000 secured bond

• Monquavious Riggins, felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, bond unavailable
