SHARPSBURG — A woman was struck by a vehicle and killed just outside Sharpsburg on Saturday night, according to authorities.
The woman, who hasn’t been officially identified, died at the scene, according to a dispatcher with the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
Sharpsburg Police Chief Michael Thomas said Sunday afternoon that his officers responded to the call, but troopers were investigating the incident.
The woman was walking along County Line Road about a tenth of a mile south of Sharpsburg at around 8 p.m. when she was hit, according to the highway patrol. The incident is still under investigation.
The fatality occurred in Nash County. Sharpsburg is divided between Nash, Edgecombe and Wilson counties.
