Wilson police are investigating a shooting that left two men injured Friday evening.

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Pender Street at 7:39 p.m. While police were headed to the area, they were notified that two men had been shot and were with EMS officials at Hines Street near Lodge Street, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud. Officers responded to both areas.

Police were able to locate what they describe as a crime scene in front of home in the 300 block of Pender Street, according to officials.

Officers spoke with 18-year-old Malik K. Ray and 27-year-old Jonathan O. Gear, who were both suffering from gunshot wounds, Stroud said.

Both men told police they were standing at a home in the 300 block of Pender Street when they were shot by unknown perpetrators driving a white Ford Expedition-type sport utility vehicle.

Gear was shot in the hip area and Ray was shot in the stomach, according to officials. Both men were taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment.
