NASHVILLE — Authorities have charged a Nashville man with a broad daylight shooting in the Walmart parking lot Sunday that left one person injured.
Samuel Evans, 39, of Nashville, faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. His bond is set at $25,000.
“This was an isolated incident where the victim and suspect knew each other,” Nashville Police Chief Anthony Puckett said in a Sunday press release.
Puckett released a second press release Monday that identified Evans. Police have not identified the victim wounded in the shooting.
At around 1:20 p.m. Sunday, police officers responded to the Walmart on Eastern Avenue in reference to a shooting investigation.
“Within minutes, the threat was contained, and officers had all the subjects that were involved in the incident detained,” Puckett said. “The shooting occurred in the Walmart parking lot.”
Evans is accused of shooting into a vehicle in which the injured person sat.
Someone drove the injured person to Walgreens, also on East Washington Street. Nash County Emergency Services brought the injured person from there to a medical facility where the person was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
The Nashville Police Department continues to investigate the crime in an attempt to collect all available information. Detectives continue to interview those involved in the incident as well as witnesses, Puckett said.
“We would like to thank the Nash County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance,” Puckett added.
Anyone with information about the shooting can call Sgt. Caleb Shockley at 252-459-4545.
