Police say a Wilson man was stabbed after he tried to break up a fight Saturday.
Police responded to a 9:49 p.m. call Saturday to Wilson Medical Center regarding a stabbing. When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, 49-year-old Eric G. McCray, who told police he was stabbed while he was trying to break up a fight in the area of Merrick and Lane streets, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud.
McCray and the suspect in the case are acquaintances, Stroud said.
McCray was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville with a stab wound to his upper chest. No arrests have been made yet.
Officials said the investigation into the case is ongoing.
