Wilson police are investigating an armed robbery reported Sunday at a Subway restaurant.

Shortly before 1 p.m., Wilson Police Department officers responded to the Subway at 3722 Airport Blvd. NW regarding a robbery. When officers arrived, they spoke to an employee who told them a man entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud.

The robber made off with an undetermined amount of money, left the store and ran from the area, police said. No one was injured as a result of the robbery.

Police released a surveillance photograph Monday in hopes the public might help identify the man accused in the holdup. Authorities describe the suspect as a short black man who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a green bandanna covering his face.

Police ask anyone with knowledge of the suspect’s identity or current whereabouts to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323. To provide information anonymously, call Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
