Police are seeking information in a Fourth of July fight that sent a Wilson man to the hospital with a head injury.

Wilson police officers responded to an assault call on the 2600 block of Willowbrook Lane at 7:34 p.m. Thursday. Officers found 40-year-old Andy Jones Jr. suffering from an injury to his head, police spokesman Sgt. Steve Stroud said Friday evening.

Medics rushed Jones to Wilson Medical Center for treatment.

“The initial reason for the call is believed to be have been a physical altercation involving Jones and an unknown suspect,” Stroud said in a news release.

Police said it wasn’t clear what caused Jones’ injury. Witnesses were not cooperative when police arrived at the scene, Stroud said.

Investigators are seeking leads from the public to determine who committed the assault.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323.

To share anonymous tips, call Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
