Train cars are shown piled on top of one another in this Times file photo after a CSX train jumped the tracks near Elm City on May 11, 1987. The wreck caused a tank carrying sulfuric acid to rupture. Some 2,000 people evcacuated the town to get away from the poisonous gas. The Wilson Times is publishing historical photos of Wilson County life and landmarks. To share your snapshots, email the picture and caption to Lori Parrish at lori@wilsontimes.com with the subject line Remember When or bring it to the Times office at 126 Nash St. during regular business hours.
