Girls and boys basketball teams from Sallie B. Howard School will host a Play4Kay fundraiser to honor those who have been impacted by breast cancer during their home doubleheader Wednesday, Dec. 12, starting at 4:30 p.m.

Breast-cancer survivors will be in attendance as special guests.

There will be a $1 free-throw relay with donations going toward the goal of raising $500 for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, Inc. Donations will also be accepted online at https://support.kayyow.com/team/144925.

The school will match the amount of donations raised.

WCYAA basketball registration ends Sunday

Registration for Wilson County Youth Athletic Association winter basketball will end Sunday, Dec. 10.

The regular season will start Saturday, Jan. 6, and continue through the middle of February. A single-elimination tournament will follow the end of the regular season. Games will be played on Saturdays and Sunday afternoons.

Players may register at Trophies By Designs (703 West Nash Street in Wilson) during store hours, by mailing your form and fees to WCYAA, P.O. Box 10, Lucama, N.C., 27851, or online at wcyaa.org.

Age divisions are 4-6 coed instructional, 7-8 coed, 9-10 boys, 11-12 boys, 13-15 boys, and 16-18 boys. The birthday cutoff is Dec. 1, 2017.

Willow Springs ace

Butch Parker finished his round at Willow Springs Country Club on Sunday, Nov. 26, by acing the No. 18 hole.

The feat was witnessed by Bootsie Parker.
