School board calls special meeting

The Wilson County Board of Education has called a special meeting for 1 p.m. Wednesday to hear first readings of 26 policy revisions and draft policies.

Included are policies involving alternative learning programs, behavior standards for transfer students, injury and loss prevention, release of students from school, communicable diseases-students, child abuse-reports and investigations, student behavior policies, school plan for management of student behavior, fair and consistent discipline administration, integrity and civility, disruptive behavior, gang-related activity, theft, trespass and damage to property, assaults, threats and harassment, weapons, bomb threats, terrorism threats and clear threats to safety, criminal behavior, schools-level investigations, student discipline records, prohibition of drugs and alcohol, smoking and tobacco products, collections and solicitations, staff ethics and responsibilities, employee dress and appearance, school administrator contracts, absences due to inclement weather and membership in professional organizations.

The board meets at the Wilson County Schools central office, 117 Tarboro St. Meetings are open to the public.
