LUCAMA — Scott Farms co-owner Alice Scott was recognized by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for International Women’s Day on Thursday.
State agriculture officials acknowledged Scott in a blog post highlighting women in agriculture and the efforts they are making to maintain agriculture as the state’s No. 1 industry.
In 2017, Scott was named chairwoman of the N.C. Farm Service Agency State Committee by U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue.
Scott Farms, which Scott co-owns with husband Linwood “Sonny” Scott, was also named the 2018 N.C. Exporter of the Year and for improvements made to the farm’s migrant housing.
