More than 50 people attended a back-to-school prayer rally held Sunday afternoon at the Wilson County Courthouse ahead of classes starting Monday for the county's 26 public schools. Pastor Freddie Williams of Atmosphere of Praise Church, shown at far left on the courthouse steps, organized the community prayer. Williams opened the half-hour service before turning the microphone over to Pastor Kenneth Fontenot of Bethel Baptist Church, Wilson Mayor Bruce Rose and Wilson County Sheriff Calvin Woodard. For the closing prayer, Williams asked participants to mingle and join hands with someone they did not know.
