Frances Ikner Lamm shared this image with information provided by Barry Lamm. This photograph taken in 1920 shows John Jackson Ikner with his 1919 Hudson automobile parked in the 100 block of East Pine Street. Ikner was in Wilson working the tobacco market and was renting a room in the white house pictured. Ikner later met and married Lorene Willis of Wilson in 1920, and they bought a house on Lee Street. The white house was built prior to the Civil War, was owned by a doctor and served as a hospital during the war. The Wilson Times is publishing historical photos of Wilson County life and landmarks. To share your snapshots, email the picture and caption to Lori Parrish at lori@wilsontimes.com with the subject line Remember When or bring it to the Times office at 126 Nash St. during regular business hours.
