Danny Tharrington, program technician in Wilson County, was named U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency District 6 employee of the quarter for the third quarter.
Farm Service Agency’s District 6 includes Wilson, Martin, Washington, Tyrrell, Dare, Hyde, Beaufort, Pitt, Greene, Craven, Pamlico, Carteret, Edgecombe and Nash counties.
Debbie Houston, FSA district director for District 6, presented the award.
The purpose of this award is to recognize employees who have provided extraordinary customer service within the agency and demonstrated an extra effort to serve customers. As the recipient of this award, Tharrington will receive a certificate of recognition and a time-off award.
Tharrington began his FSA career as a field reporter for Nash County in March of 1994. He has been in Wilson County since January 2000. His primary responsibilities are assisting farmers with updating farm records, compliance issues, GIS/GPS and maps.
“Working as a team makes everything easier,” Tharrington said. “We all work as a team in the Wilson County office to serve the Wilson County farmers and landowners.”
Tharrington is active in the American Legion Post 110 and is the committee chair for Boy Scouts Troop 16. He served in the U.S. Navy from September of 1983 through January of 1993.
