While shopping in the Piggly Wiggly store in Wilson in September, I purchased a 10-pound bag of potatoes. I came home and dumped them out on the table, but some remained in the bottom of the bag. Once I got the last one out, I noticed that it was the most amazing, largest potato that I had ever seen. It was so large that it could’ve probably fed a family of four easily. It even looked as if it were staring at me like a human head and face!
I named it “Spud.” Spud had ears, eyes, a nose, a mouth and also looked as if he had a curl of hair on his head. LOL!
I had so much fun with him by putting sunglasses and a hat on him. Spud kept watching me across the kitchen table for about four weeks until suddenly, he passed away. Never in my life would I thought I would miss my friend.
Thinking back, I believe that maybe someone was playing a joke by putting that potato in the bottom of the bag. Somewhere out there, someone may remember bagging this special potato. Anyway, Spud was something that I laughed about many times with friends.
