Graham Walston helped three of his North Johnston High teams pick up victories last week, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
On Tuesday, he had an assist in the Panthers’ 2-0 win over Beddingfield in boys soccer. The next day, Graham, participating in his first cross-country meet ever, finished third overall and first for North Johnston in 23:30, helping the Panthers defeat Beddingfield and Nash Central. Finally, on Friday, Graham kicked a three extra points and then a 32-yard field goal in the final seconds at Farmville Central to give the Panthers a 32-29 win, their first ever in 10 meetings with the Jaguars.
The son of Catherine and Brent Walston of Wilson, Graham has a 4.22 GPA and is ranked eighth in his junior class at North Johnston, where he takes honors pre-calculus. He also takes courses at Johnston Community College. Graham is a member of the school’s chapter of National Honor Society, for which he serves as reporter, and was a co-founder of the Ping Pong Club.
He also plays tennis, runs track and wrestles at North Johnston.
Graham earned the rank of Eagle Scout at Boy Scout Troop 381 and is a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, where he volunteers in the Community Soup Kitchen. He plays for the Wilson Youth Soccer Association’s ’02 Explosion.
