Jordyn Scott sparked her North Johnston High varsity girls basketball team to the Johnstonian News Holiday Invitational tournament championship last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Jordyn, a senior guard, scored 23 points to go with eight steals and four assists in the Lady Panthers’ 59-46 defeat of Rosewood in the championship game Friday.
In Thursday’s semifinals, she had a game-high 15 points, including seven of her team’s 10 points in the second half, and nine steals in North Johnston’s 33-30 victory over previously unbeaten Neuse Charter.
The daughter of Shannon Hamilton of Pine Level and Neal Scott of Roxboro, Jordyn has a 3.6 GPA. She took honors math last semester. She is a member of the school’s chapter of National Honor Society and Future Farmers of America while also playing volleyball and softball for the Lady Panthers.
Jordyn will attend Louisburg College next year on a partial athletic scholarship for softball.
Jordyn serves as a volunteer for Pine Level Parks and Recreation events and works part-time at Nik’s Pizza in Kenly. She plays travel softball for the Johnston County-based Carolina Cardinals.
