Tanner Sullivan played a big role in his Fike High varsity baseball team’s three wins last week to remain unbeaten, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Tanner, a senior, batted .300 with four RBIs and a run scored as the Golden Demons ripped East Wake 12-0 on Tuesday, thumped Southern Wayne 11-4 on Wednesday and posted an 18-0 win at Croatan on Friday. Tanner started on the mound and got the win, his second of the season. For the week, he pitched five scoreless innings, gave up three hits, walked one and struck out six.
The son of Wendy and Steve Sullivan, Tanner has a 3.2 GPA at Fike, where he takes all honors courses. Tanner is a member of Fike’s chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Student Booster Club. He also played soccer for the Golden Demons.
He was a volunteer youth basketball coach this winter for Wilson Parks and Recreation Department. Tanner is active at Sims United Methodist Church and works part-time at Parker’s Barbecue.
He played for the GameTime Recruiting Prospects showcase baseball team last year.
