Six days of NCAA Division II college baseball in Fleming Stadium starts Friday as the Wilson Tobs’ fifth annual College Baseball Classic begins with a doubleheader between nationally No.8-ranked Mercyhurst (Pennsylvania) and West Virginia State, followed by a single game between Wheeling Jesuit (West Virginia) and Kutztown (Pennsylvania).
Seven teams, including four who played in the 2017 College Baseball Classic, will play 15 games from Friday to Wednesday in Fleming, home of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League Tobs.
“We are looking forward to having another great College Classic to kick off our 2018 season out at Historic Fleming Stadium. By continuing to bring baseball to the Wilson area year-round, we are providing the community with entertainment consistently leading to the kick-off of the Wilson Tobs summer season,” Tobs general manager Mike Bell said in a release. “We have some familiar teams that have participated in years past, but we are also welcoming some new northern schools this year to broaden our outreach throughout the nation.”
The other teams in the field are Bloomsburg (Pennsylvania), California (Pennsylvania) and Lock Haven (Pennsylvania). Mercyhurst, Wheeling Jesuit and Bloomsburg will be making their Classic debuts.
Full-day passes are $7 and gates will open one hour before the first pitch of the opening game each day.
