Three additional names from the Wilson Tobs have joined the Coastal Plain League’s American All-Star Roster in advance of the league’s All-Star Game, set for Monday night at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
Joining starters Brenton Doyle and Patrick Frick are pitchers Tyler Grauer and Luis Acosta, as well as designated hitter Kevin McGowan. Frick, although elected to the roster, will not be available to play for the American squad, comprised of All-Star selections from the North and East divisions.
Grauer, a left-hander out of Indiana State University, owns a 2-1 record with a 1.33 earned run average and 25 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings of work.
Acosta, a right-hander from Texas Rio-Grande Valley, has settled into the closing role for Wilson. He has three of the team’s four saves and carries a 3-2 record with a 1.62 ERA. Acosta has 19 strikeouts in 13 appearance, spanning 16 2/3 innings.
McGowan, from La Salle, is third among Tobs everyday starters with a .274 batting average. He’s second on the team with 26 hits and leads the Tobs in RBIs (17) and doubles (7).
Doyle, an outfielder, leads Wilson’s everyday bats with a .286 average. He paces the Tobs in stolen bases with nine, and home runs with three. Doyle is tied for the team lead with six doubles and two triples .
His .455 slugging percentage is tops among Wilson starters.
