Tobs’ bats muted by Martinsville, 10-1

MARTINSVILLE, Va. — Wilson pitchers were shelled for 10 runs over the course of three innings, and the bats were limited to a third-inning triple by Jacob Nester as the Tobs’ slogged to a 10-1 Coastal Plain League defeat at Hooker Field on Friday night.

Wilson, which fell to 3-4 overall, remains on the road Saturday at the High Point-Thomasville HiToms before returning to Fleming Stadium on Sunday against the Holly Springs Salamanders.

The Mustangs (3-5)
peppered Wilson starter Sean Deely (0-1) for seven runs over the course of 1 1/3 innings. Josh Falk, as part of a 3-for-3, four-RBI showing, hit a two-run homer in the first. Cross Factor hit a solo shot in the second as part of a six-run inning for Martinsville.

Falk laced a two-run single as part of the spree.

Wilson, which was controlled by three Martinsville pitchers at the plate, scratched a two-out run in the third. Antwaun Tucker walked and scored on the Nester triple to right field.

Garret Sendelbach (1-1) threw five innings for the Mustangs in the win, striking out five and walking four. Greg Leban threw the sixth and Kyle Lysy authored the final three innings.

Six pitchers saw mound time for Wilson.
