The Wilson Tobs had Wednesday night off from the Coastal Plain League schedule but the Peninsula Pilots were hard at work, winning 7-4 over the Edenton Steamers.
The win allowed Peninsula to move up a half-game behind the front-running Tobs in the CPL North Division. Wilson, a CPL-best 9-2 record in the second half, owns a two-game lead over the Pilots (7-4).
Wilson returns to action Thursday as it hosts Edenton at Fleming Stadium for a 7 p.m. start. The Tobs then venture to Holly Springs of the East Division on Friday before hosting Peninsula for a regularly scheduled game Saturday following the completion of Tuesday's suspended game, starting at 6 p.m. The Tobs and Pilots were tied after five innings when the evening's second lightning delay ended the night.
Those two games Saturday are among the five the Tobs and Pilots, who are the first-half North champions, have left against each other.
