An unusually large dip in the jet stream will allow a blast of arctic air to sink well into the southern United States Tuesday, bringing the Wilson Times area its coldest temperatures of the season.

A high Tuesday in the mid-50s will occur in the morning, followed by steadily dropping temperatures all afternoon. Lows Wednesday morning at sunrise will touch the mid-20s. To make matters worse, a north wind around 10 mph will make it feel like the upper teens between 6 and 7 a.m.

Wednesday and Wednesday night will be cold.

Some moderation in the temperatures Thursday will be followed by an increasing chance of showers starting overnight in advance of another cold front Friday with a complicating trough off of the coast. There is hope for moderating temperatures by Sunday, though still below average.
