KEISHON PORTER, SouthWest Edgecombe — His team’s leading rusher and receiver in 35-20 loss to Elizabeth City Northeastern last Friday night in the third round of the 2-A playoffs. The 6-foot-4, 180-pound senior rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on seven carries and caught two passes for 36 yards and a TD. Porter also directed a scoring march while taking snaps in the shotgun attack.

CORTEZZ JONES, SouthWest Edgecombe — Despite a leg injury, turned in a stellar all-round performance as the Cougars’ championship season ended with a loss to visiting Northeastern in the East semifinals of the 2-A playoffs. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound senior rushed for 24 yards on 10 carries, caught a pass for 10 yards, fielded a bouncing punt snap and completed a pass for 12 yards and a first down; returned two kickoffs for 63 yards, with the game-opening return setting up a TD; and punted three times for a 41.7-yard average.

IZAIAH WALKER-WARREN, Southern Nash — Recovered an onside kick and caught an interception in the Firebirds third round victory over Fayetteville Terry Sanford, helping a defense to a three-quarter shutout of the Bulldogs.

QUINTON COOLEY, Southern Nash  Powerful senior running back ran for six touchdowns and 154 yards on 20 carries, including a 67-yard punt return that put away Fayetteville Terry Sanford for good in the second quarter. 

MATT FOSTER, Southern Nash — Senior quarterback found success running outside the tackles for Southern Nash and added another dynamic to Cooley’s big night. Foster rushed for 99 yards on 13 carries and scored the Firebirds first touchdown to jumpstart the offense that scored 59-straight points.
