Wilson City Little League’s 12th Opening Day celebration, set for Saturday at Gillette Baseball Complex, has been postponed due to the probability of rain in the forecast for most of the day.
Games scheduled for Saturday had not been postponed as of Friday night but Wilson Parks and Recreation Department athletic coordinator Troy Blaser said a decision on whether they will be played will be made by 10 a.m. Saturday. However, games set for next week will be played as scheduled.
A shortened version of the Opening Day ceremony will be held Friday, April 13, after the 6 p.m. game at Southern Bank Stadium. Blaser said he is still trying to include the Parade of Teams, featuring all 39 WCLL baseball and Wilson Parks and Rec baseball and softball teams, as part of the event.
