The Wilson County Department of Social Services is hosting its 19th annual Adoption Awareness Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Community Church on Montgomery Drive.
The block party will include a Jump-n-Slide, obstacle course, rock climbing wall, a Colgate bus designed to teach kids and parents about proper oral hygiene, a fire safety demonstration by Wilson Fire/Rescue Services, Safe Kids, Ident-a-Kid with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, face-painting, community engagement with the Wilson Police Department and information on becoming an adoptive or foster parent.
The public is invited to attend. Free food will also be available.
Wilson County DSS staff, along with several experienced foster and adoptive parents, will be on hand to provide answers to questions about financial issues regarding adoptions, selecting the right therapy services and how to become an adoptive or foster parent.
