A man faces multiple charges after police say he sexually assaulted a minor over the course of several years.

On Monday, officials arrested 25-year-old Louis I. Deschamps of Wilson on charges of four counts of indecent liberties with a child, statutory sexual offense and attempted first-degree sexual offense, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud.

In November, police were called to a Wilson home regarding a sexual assault of a minor, police said. Officers spoke to an adult who said they caught Deschamps sexually assaulting a child, officials said. Investigating officers at the time obtained warrants on Deschamps, and he was arrested on a charge of statutory sexual offense a few hours later, Stroud said. At that time, Deschamps was given a $250,000 secured bond.

Deschamps was charged with additional offenses earlier this week that resulted from the November investigation. He received a $150,000 secured bond. “All the charges involved one victim over several years,” Stroud said.

In sexual assault cases, The Wilson Times withholds information that could identify the accuser.
