Authorities have accused a 37-year-old man of sexually abusing a child over the past decade.

Police arrested Isabel Araujo Martinez of Wilson on April 16 and charged him with eight counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and eight additional sexual offense charges.

Police began their investigation in December and responded to a Wilson home after the reported allegations. Martinez was jailed under a $100,000 secured bond.

The Wilson Times does not identify alleged victims of sexual assault and withholds information that could identify the relationship between the suspect and accuser.

Martinez has a previous criminal conviction for fraud of a special identification card in May 2007, according to N.C. Department of Public Safety records. He received and successfully completed probation in the Nash County misdemeanor case.

Police ask anyone with information to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
