MOUNT OLIVE — A routine traffic stop on the U.S. 117 bypass near Lee’s Country Club Road resulted in drug charges being filed against a Wilson man.

Mount Olive police say they also confiscated marijuana, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and cash.

The incident resulted in charges against 32-year-old Devin Leon Brunson. He was booked under a $4,000 bond at the Wayne County Jail in Goldsboro.

The charges include possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and maintaining a motor vehicle for controlled substances.

Police Chief Tommy Brown said officers seized about one and a quarter pounds of marijuana, 7 grams of cocaine, $3,000 in cash and two sets of digital scales.

Brown said Brunson was apparently traveling through Mount Olive when he was stopped for a traffic violation where alert officers suspected drugs.
